MP Gallant Confirms Local Constituent to Meet
    Federal Health Minister Officials

Ottawa, Ontario… Cheryl Gallant, MP Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, is pleased to confirm that Carmen Krogh, a local constituent, will be meeting with senior officials of Conservative Minister of Health Leona Aglukkaq, to share health concerns, regarding the size, number and location of wind turbines that are being proposed for rural Renfrew County and Nipissing District.

“The presentation in my office, by Cormac resident Carmen Krogh, on the adverse health effects while exposed to a wind turbine complex, convinced me that her health claims should be investigated. When it comes to the health of Canadians, I would rather err on the side of caution then proceed without all the facts,” said MP Cheryl Gallant.

“Let me be clear. I support the right to own private property being enshrined in our constitution. That includes the right of private landowners who pay property taxes to derive the benefit of private ownership,” said Cheryl Gallant, MP.

“Having said that, I share the concerns expressed by many of our rural residents that windmills may be nothing more than a big-city fad being shoved onto the backs of local citizens the way gun control and provincial water regulations were brought in,” said Cheryl Gallant, MP. In the words of local resident Barney McCaffrey, writing for Sun Media, his volunteer work with the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace has taught him that sometimes it is important to “follow the money”. In this case the trail of dollars appears to lead directly ‘to Mike Crawley, head of the Ontario Liberal Party and also president of a large wind company, and that ‘most of the positions have already been given out to large wind companies like his own’.”

“The people of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke need no lessons from Toronto when it comes to being good stewards of the land. We have had household re-cycling that is now only being considered in some urban communities. This County exports 60% of our locally generated hydro electricity south. We are the Canadian centre of excellence for research into green-house gas free, nuclear electricity. I will match our record of concern for the environment anywhere in Canada,” stated MP Gallant.

“It may be, that at the end of the day, wind power is as wonderful as the proponents say it is. The choice on location and number of wind turbines must be a science-based decision. Any health concerns need to be addressed before the turbines go up,” concluded Cheryl Gallant, MP.
